Wat Phou appears almost suddenly to the visitor's eye as it blends with the dark brown vegetation. It is one of those sacred places, full of spirituality, certainly a step in the Chen-La’s step leading to Angkor and placed near the waterway of the Mekong. A place where you can breathe the wind that carries with it the voices of millions of pilgrims who over the centuries have sat under its arches, under the shadows of its frangipani trees around it and that today still exist. A silent spectator can have the impression of being back in time, watching life as it was centuries ago. Mekong is observed from the Linga Parvati, while Francis Garnier’s and Dr.Harmand’s ghosts seem to remain in respectful silence when the morning breeze dawn meets the disk of the sun that rises from the water of Siphandon. Just poetry.
