MEKONG STORY

A large river that divides 6 countries has created differences and histories in the countries that are touched by it, back in the past. The Mekong river has marked both the ancient and the modern histories of China, Laos, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia to flow into the South Chinese Sea with a large Delta more than 300 km wide and populated with twenty million people. A maze of channels and a boundless body of water that brings life and often destroyed the crossed areas. The images displayed concern a very densely populated reality as opposed to a wild one that is not always pristine. Its vision makes us think and imagine the fantasy world that the great explorers in 1800s glimpsed while going up and looking for ways to enter uncharted territories, that were attractive for predation by the colonial West. A saga of a solemn and silent spectator: a majestic river where the disk of the sun at certain points comes out from the water at sunrise, as all of nature around you starts living again surrounded by the light.
